  • Y1 & 2 visited the seaside.

    On Wednesday Yr1 & Yr2  visited Lytham St Annes. We had a fantastic day,  riding on the donkeys and playing on the beach. We ended our day with a delicious cool ice cream. We all had a great time and we hope to visit again.

  • Whetley's World Cup Final

    19th July 2018
    The Year 6 students took on the Whetley Academy staff, in a closely contested football match yesterday. Over 500 students were outside to watch the game and cheer on the Year 6 students. The match was full of action from start to finish and saw the Year 6 students come out victorious in a 9-7  win. It was throughly enjoyed by students and teachers and a fantastic way to say good bye to our fantastic year 6 students.
     
  • Y6 Residential

    19th July 2018

    Year 6 were extremely lucky to go on a 3-day residential trip to Caythorpe Court, Lincoln. They took part in a wide range of activities including; quad biking, raft building and the giant swing. They had lots of fun during their team building events and really enjoyed their last trip together.

    Star Achievers

  • Harewood House

    On 10th May 2018, year 4 went on an amazing trip to Harewood House in Leeds as a part of our Rich and Poor topic and to support our writing.
    We explored the magnificent Harewood House, which still belongs to Lascelles family. They are aristocrats closely related to the Royal family. After exploring the State Floor rooms full of famous Chippendale furniture, we went to see Below Stairs area, where servants and maids lived.
     
    After that we looked around the famous Bird Garden and even played in an adventure play
  • Sporting Stars

    The pupils at Whetley Academy have been very busy taking part in a variety of sports tournaments recently.

    The girls got to the quarter finals of the Marley Football Tournament, the boys also played really well in their Tournament at Marley Stadium, and the Year 5 boys Basketball team came 3rd at Zara Sports Centre.

    Once again the pupils were very well behaved, and were a real credit to the school.

    Well done everyone.

     

  • Year 4 cricket finalists

    Last Thursday our Year 4 Cricket Team played in a local tournament and won all their matches and scored a staggering 694 runs.  Due to their amazing performance they have secured a place in the final.

    Congratulations to the team, well done and good luck for the final.

    What an achievement..our Year 6 Girls have just won the Basketball Tournament this afternoon at Zara Sports Centre.

  • YHA Spy Academy

    22nd March 2018

    Year 4 and 5 went on a residential to YHA Spy Academy, Castleton in the Peak District in early March. 51 children learnt to make a fire, and bake bread over it. Children also learned navigational skills, archery and we had a local walk through the countryside. It was a great experience and everyone enjoyed it. All children are now fully fledged agents!

    The Year 5 pupils thoroughly enjoyed a visit from the local police team, to learn about online safety and cyber bullying and the laws of being online.

    Wild Science Visit

    Last week the children at Whetley were visited by some very special animals. Tarantulas and snakes were just some of the creatures we learnt about, and stroked. The children were incredibly brave and totally fascinated with these strange creatures as our expert explained how to feed and care for them.
